Three Stars
Three Stars put up a nice performance to win the Grade 3 Buck House Chase over 2m 2f at Punchestown on Thursday. He travelled like the most likely winner from a long way out for Ruby Walsh, he jumped well, and he kept on well on the run-in to win with plenty in hand from Ball D'Arc, who also finished second to him when he won his beginners' chase last month at Listowel.
This is usually a good race, it has been won in the recent past by The Game Changer, Alelchi Inois, Art Of Logistics and Baily Green, and it is a race at which Henry de Bromhead appears to like to aim his good novices. He won it in 2010 with Loosen My Load, and he won it in 2009 with Sizing Europe. The race was rendered a little easier than it might have been by the fact that favourite Lieutenant Colonel was pulled up before the home turn, but Three Stars was a good winner. He has lots of pace, and he could be even happier back at 2m. He is only six and this was just his third chase, so he should continue to progress.
