Dinaria Des Obeaux

Dinaria Des Obeaux put up a seriously impressive performance in winning the opening juveniles' maiden hurdle at Cork on Sunday. Always travelling well just behind the leaders, the Gigginstown House filly cruised up to join the leaders at the third last flight, eased clear on the run to the second last and then picked up really impressively from there for Jack Kennedy to come clear of her rivals on the run to the last before being eased heavily close home.

Favourite Tree Of Knowledge was disappointing, but Gordon Elliott's filly beat her rivals very easily indeed. She beat runner-up and fellow Gigginstown House horse Tout Est Permis by an official margin of 29 lengths, and Tout Est Permis had finished fourth, 11 lengths behind Triumph Hurdle favourite Landofhopeandglory at Punchestown on his previous run. She left the impression too that she had lots more left to give, and she still clocked a good time.

The Saddler Maker filly was weak in the market too before this, her Irish debut, so she could progress considerably for it. She has to prove that she can handle better ground now, but she did win her bumper on her racecourse debut in France on ground that was officially described as good to soft. It is very early days in her career, of course, but she is exciting.
