Beautiful Morning
Beautiful Morning ran better than the bare form of her run suggests in finishing fourth in the Group 3 Blue Wind Stakes at The Curragh on Saturday.
Keener than ideal through the early stages of the race, she appeared to get a little out-paced when they quickened from the three-furlong marker. It took her a little while to find her stride but, once she did, she stayed on well through the final furlong for Colm O'Donoghue to take fourth place, just a total of three and a half lengths behind the winner Turret Rocks.
The Galileo filly ran really well for a long way on her first run for Jessica Harrington at Gowran Park at the end of April, when she finished fourth behind Somehow in the Listed Victor McCalmont Stakes over nine and a half furlongs. Saturday's run was probably a step forward from that, and it promised more. It was just her seventh run ever, just her second for her new yard, and she was still keen. She had plenty of scope still for progression, and she should do better when she learns to settle a little better through the early stages of her races.
Second in a listed fillies' race over 10 furlongs at Newbury last year for Luca Cumani, she is by Galileo out of a mare who raced over 10 and 12 furlongs, so she could be interesting stepped back up to a mile and a half. She was disappointing on her only try at the trip in Britain, in a listed race at Newmarket last September, but she was very keen that day too. She could improve significantly when she learns to settle.
