Best Solution

Best Solution kept on gamely to land the Group 2 Princess of Wales's Stakes. He was a bit keener than ideal through the early stages of the race behind a sedate enough looking pace that Ryan Moore was allowed to set on Mirage Dancer. He moved up nicely at the 3f marker though to join and pass the leader, and he battled on well from there to hold the renewed effort of Mirage Dancer and the staying on Duretto. This was his first run for 103 days, since he finished fifth behind Hawkbill in the Dubai Sheema Classic at Meydan in March, and it was his first run in Britain since he won the Group 3 St Simon Stakes at Newbury last October.

He does go well fresh, so it is not a given that he will improve for this run, and he was well backed here just before the off, but he was keen enough early on, and he could improve for the run. He does go well on easy ground though, so he should do even better when the ground eases a little. Trainer Saeed bin Suroor said afterwards that he could go for the King George or the Irish St Leger, and the latter would be an interesting project, especially if the ground comes up on the easy side at The Curragh in September. His chance would be enhanced if he didn't run between now and then.
