Tresorier

It never looked like Tresorier was going to catch Beach Bar in the 1m handicap, the winner quickly established a clear lead and it never looked like he was going to be caught, but John Feane's horse ran an encouraging race to finish third. Held up early on by Billy Lee, he moved to the outside early in the home straight, he was the last horse to come off the bridle, and he stayed on well to take third place, just failing to catch Tony The Gent for second.

Fourth in the Group 1 Criterium International as a juvenile when he was with Criquette Head-Maarek in France, and beaten just a half a length in a six-furlong listed race at Chantilly as a three-year-old, this was just his second run since being gelded and his third for his current trainer. Also, it was his first run in over six weeks, so there is every chance that he can improve again. He stuck his head out willingly and he finished his race well. There could be a good handicap in the Dunkerque gelding off this mark of 88, and he could even be worth a try over further than 1m on this evidence, even though his sire never went beyond seven furlongs, and his dam was a listed race winner over five. He could be a horse for Galway and, given that all his form in France was on good and soft ground, it might also be worthwhile keeping him in mind for the autumn when the ground eases.
