Skitter Scatter

Skitter Scatter was impressive in winning the Group 3 Silver Flash Stakes. Favourite Goddess was obviously disappointing, but it was still an impressive performance by the winner.

She travelled well up on the outside of the favourite who led and, while she came under a ride as they raced around the home turn, she picked up impressively at the 2f marker to put distance between herself and her rivals. Moravia closed to a length and a half by the time they reached the winning line, but the winner probably had a fair bit more in hand than that.

This was Patrick Prendergast's filly fifth run, she was more exposed than most of her rivals going into the race, but she has improved with each of her runs. Winner of her maiden at Dundalk in April, when she beat Sergei Prokofiev by a short head, she got to within a half a length of So Perfect in a Group 3 race at The Curragh on Irish Derby weekend on her previous run. This was another step up on that run on this, her first run over 7f. Her dam won over 10f and she has improved as she has stepped up in trip. A daughter of Scat Daddy out of a Street Cry mare, a half-sister to Dewhurst Stakes winner Intense Focus, fast ground may be important to her, but she has a lovely progressive profile, and she will be of interest again when she steps up in class. Her trainer mentioned the Group 2 Debutante Stakes as a possible next step, and that would be a legitimate target.
