I Can Fly

You can forgive I Can Fly her run in the Group 3 Fairy Bridge Stakes.  She missed the break and she was always racing in traffic.  Kept to the inside early in the home straight, she did eventually engineer a path for herself but, by the time she got into the clear, One Master and Dan's Dream had gone for home.  She never had the racing room that she needed in order to deliver her challenge.

Aidan O'Brien's filly is still a filly who should be worth following. She put up a nice performance to win a listed 1m race at Killarney on her previous run.  Held up by Seamie Heffernan that day through the early stages of the race, she moved up nicely on the outside at the top of the home straight, she hit the front at the 2f marker and she stayed on strongly through the final furlong to post an impressive victory.

The time was good and Rionach, who stayed on to take second place, had run a big race on her previous run to finish third in the Colm Quinn BMW Mile at Galway, after enduring a poor run through her race.

I Can Fly should be able to go forward again now.  At Killarney, she filly was recording her first win since she won her maiden at Dundalk on her racecourse debut in September last year.  She did run well in the Guineas Trial at Leopardstown in April and, after finishing down the field in both the Guineas and the Oaks, she went to Galway and ran a very encouraging race to finish a close-up fourth in a listed race over 7f, doing best of the hold-up fillies.  She remains a filly of potential, and she will be interesting again now stepped back up into Group races.
