Lady Kaya

Lady Kaya ran a massive race to finish second to Skitter Scatter in the Moyglare Stud Stakes. Sheila Lavery's filly travelled really well through her race. She showed a lot of pace, and she travelled like the most likely winner when she moved easily to the front on the run to the 2f marker. She was the only filly who was still on the bridle at that point, Robbie Colgan was still motionless. She went at least 1l clear at the 1f marker, and it wasn't as if she wilted from there. She kept on all the way to the line. Skitter Scatter did prove stronger, and she went on to win by 2l, but Lady Kaya retained second place, she finished over 1l clear of Hermosa in third.

They went fast in the Moyglare Stud Stakes, Skitter Scatter is a top class filly, and it was probably her superior stamina that saw her home over 7f. Lady Kaya stays 7f all right, she won by 10l over this course and distance in August, but she showed so much pace, she got to the front so easily off a strong pace, that you have to think that she could be even more effective over 6f. She is by Palace House Stakes winner and King's Stand runner-up and Nunthorpe third Dandy Man, and she is a half-sister to sprinters Illegally Blonde and Midterm Break (latterly I'm The Won For U in Hong Kong).

Fourth behind Skitter Scatter in the Debutante Stakes on her previous run, his was just her fourth race, and it was a career-best. There is every chance that she can progress again. She holds entries in the Cheveley Park Stakes (over 6f), the Rockfel Stakes (over 7f) and the Beresford Stakes (over 1m) on the last weekend in September, but it looks as though connections are favouring the Cheveley Park, and that makes a lot of sense.
