Walk Away

Walk Away did well to finish fourth in the Sefton Hurdle. He was held up early on by Robbie Power behind a sedate pace. He was still last of the 12 runners as they left the back straight as the field bunched, testament to the sedate early pace. He made nice progress for his rider on the inside at the top of the home straight. Champ and Lisnagar Oscar quickened away from him at the second last flight, and Emitom came past him on the run to the last, but he still stayed on nicely to take fourth place.

It looked like a strong Sefton Hurdle, and Henry de Bromhead's horse did well to get into the race from the rear off the moderate pace. He just kept on nicely without behind able to quicken with his more experienced rivals. This was just his second run over hurdles, and he ran just once in a point-to-point, which he won, so he has bags of scope for progression. The form of his maiden hurdle win at Thurles in early March is working out well, the second and third finished first and second in a maiden hurdle at Naas two weeks later, and he will be of interest wherever he goes next. He could be an interesting outsider in the Grade 1 three-mile novices' hurdle at the Punchestown Festival if he lines up in that. And he should make a really nice chaser in time.
