Fool For You
Fool For You ran better than her finishing position suggests in the five-furlong handicap. Racing from stall nine and towards the far side in a race in which the high numbers and those racing towards the near side dominated, she was keen enough through the early stages of the race. Towards the rear of the field early on, she picked up when PJ McDonald moved her towards the far side to get racing room, but by then Tis Marvellous had gone for home on the near side, and her run flattened out a little close home. She only finished ninth in the end, and she was well beaten by the impressive winner, but she was only beaten a total of three parts of a length for fourth.
Richard Fahey's filly was a good three-year-old last season, but she has progressed again this term. On her last run before Saturday, she won a good five-furlong handicap at Newcastle off a mark of 88. She was raised by 4lb for that to a mark of 92, but she proved here that she was up to that type of mark. She remains of interest now for another good five-furlong handicap off the same mark. It may be that she is better on all-weather than she is on turf, three of her best runs have been on an all-weather surface, a surface on which she has only run four times. Her record reads 2131. She has the same handicap rating on all-weather as she does on turf, so she will be of interest when she gets back on an artificial surface, or when she returns to Ascot's straight track, a track at which all-weather form can be a positive.
