Cabot Hills

Cabot Hills ran a nice race on his racecourse debut in the one-mile maiden to finish second to Free Solo. Settled towards the rear of the field early on by Seamie Heffernan, he was green and he was niggled along a little as they left the back straight. No better than third last of the eight runners as they straightened up for home, he stayed on well down the outside just to get up for second place from his better-fancied stable companion Yankee Stadium. He had no chance with the impressive winner Free Solo, who could be very good and who had the benefit of a run, but he kept on best of all to take the runner-up spot.

Cabot Hills is regally bred, a son of Gleneagies out of the top class racemare Peeping Fawn, a quadruple Group 1 winner, which makes him a half-brother to Chesham Stakes winner and Fillies' Mile runner-up September. Aidan O'Brien's colt did well to stay on past two better fancied stable companions to take second place, and he could progress significantly for this experience. He stayed this one-mile trip well, but he could do even better over further. He should be able to win his maiden without too much fuss before stepping up in grade.
