Internal Transfer
Internal Transfer ran a big race to finish fourth in the Kerry National. Prominent from early, never far off the fast pace, Eric McNamara's horse jumped well for Jonathan Moore, and he travelled well. Fourth in the leading group of four as they set off on their final circuit, he jumped to the front over the first fence in the back straight and he and Icantsay moved on early in the back straight. He travelled well in front, his jumping continued to be good, and he led into the home straight. His exertions told, however, and he was joined by the time they got to the second last fence. He still kept on well from there as Poker Party and Ravenhill came past, to take fourth place, although he probably would have been fifth had Shantou Village not unseated at the final fence.
It was a big run by the Kayf Tara gelding. His trainer does target this race, so it is probable that he was at concert pitch for this, but he still has scope for progression. This was just his third chase, he was two for two over fences going into the race, so he has plenty of scope for further progression. The handicapper raised him by just 1lb to a mark of 136, and that is a mark that he should be able to surpass. He handles softer ground also, so he will be of interest through the winter too. He holds an entry in the Munster National at Limerick, and that would be a legitimate target, at a track at which he is three for three.
