Imrahor
Imrahor put up a really nice performance on his racecourse debut to finish second to Cherokee Trail in the first division of the seven-furlong novice stakes. Weak in the market beforehand, Hugo Palmer's horse travelled well through his race for Kieran Shoemark on the far side. He picked up as soon as his rider gave him a squeeze at the two-furlong marker, and he was able to coast for another couple of strides in the front rank, until Cherokee Trail picked up on the near side and together they came nicely clear.
It always looked like the favourite was getting on top, and the fact that Imrahor hung a little to his left didn't help, but the winner is a well-bred John Gosden colt who had won on his racecourse debut, and the pair of them came away from their rivals. Imrahor is a well-bred colt himself, by Kingman out of a half-sister to Albany Stakes winner and 1000 Guineas runner-up Cuis Ghaire. He reportedly had a setback in February, which is obviously why we haven't seen him until now, but he is a talented colt and he is an interesting prospect for next year.
