Torn And Frayed
Torn And Frayed ran a big race to finish second to Aimee De Sivola in the two-mile maiden hurdle on his hurdling bow. He travelled well through his race for Sam Twiston-Davies, and his jumping wasn't bad, a couple of untidy jumps notwithstanding. He travelled really well in behind the leaders on the run to the home turn and, while Aimee De Sivola picked up in front of him, he stayed on well over the last two flights. He probably hit the front over the last, but just gave best to Nick Williams' mare close home.
It was still a fine run by Nigel Twiston-Davies' horse. The winner has plenty of experience over hurdles, she had a rating of 118 going into the race, and he was conceding 12lb to her, including her rider's claim, and the pair of them pulled well clear of their rivals and clocked a decent time. This was Torn And Frayed's debut over hurdles, and it was just his second run ever, his first since he finished fifth in a bumper at Southwell last March. He should progress from this. All going well, he should be winning his maiden soon before stepping up in grade.
