Our Power
Our Power ran a big race to finish third in the two-mile-five-furlong handicap hurdle. Settled back in the field early on, he made good progress down the back straight and travelled well just behind the pace at the top of the home straight. He looked a threat on the run to the final flight but, while he just couldn't get to the front two, Downtown Getaway and Palmers Hill, he kept on well all the way to the line to get to within three lengths of the front two.
Our Power was a decent juvenile hurdler for Alan King last season, he won well at Newbury just before Christmas last season, and he didn't run badly in the Fred Winter Hurdle in March. He was well beaten at Kempton on St Stephen's Day on his first run for Nigel Twiston-Davies, but this was a nice step back up from that. Alan King said last year that he may be better going left than going right, so he will be of interest when he goes back on a left-handed track. He may have appreciated the better ground that he got at Kempton, and he should be able to build on this now. He is only five, and there is leeway in his handicap rating of 130.
