Silence Please

Silence Please put up a game performance to win the Listed Salsabil Stakes. Settled in fifth of the six runners by Tom Madden through the early stages of the race, she travelled well into the home straight. Angled towards the outside at the two-furlong pole, she picked up well when her rider asked her, and she just caught One Voice on the line.

It was a fine performance by Jessica Harrington's filly. She made up a lot of ground inside the final furlong to just get up and catch her stable companion, herself a talented filly who had enjoyed a nice run through the race in second place up on the outside of Raven's Cry, who kept on well to hold onto third place.

There were only six runners, but it looked like a good renewal of a race that has been won by some high-class fillies in the recent past, including subsequent Oaks runner-up Pink Dogwood and subsequent Pretty Polly Stakes runner-up Bocca Baciata. This was just Silence Please's third run, she was two for two last year, and there is every chance that she can progress again from this, her first run since September. A half-sister to Gallante, winner of the Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris over a mile and a half, and winner of a Group 1 handicap over two miles in Australia, she could improve further for a step up to a mile and a half.
