Muker

Muker ran a big race at a big price to finish third in the Windsor Castle Stakes. Fast away, he was in the front rank from early. He travelled best of all to the two-furlong marker out in the centre of the track, and he picked up when Paul Mulrennan asked him to, hitting the front at the furlong pole. He was just run down close home by Tactical, who had raced prominently on the stands rail, which was probably the best place to be, from early from his high draw, 18 of 18, and who was strong in the finish, with the fast-finishing Yazaman just getting up to pip Muker for the runner-up spot.

It was still a fine run by Philip Makin's colt. Winner of a maiden at Newcastle on his racecourse debut two weeks earlier, he showed a lot of pace out in the centre here. He will probably do better over an easier five furlongs and at a more speed-favouring track.
