Big Baby Bull
Big Baby Bull was good in winning the seven-furlong premier handicap. He was pushed along very early on by Joey Sheridan in order that he could take up a prominent position on the far side but, after the first furlong, he travelled well through his race, just behind the pace on the far side. He picked up well over there to hit the front just inside the two-furlong marker, and he kept on well through the final furlong. Tommy Taylor and Current Option both came home well on the near side, but Big Baby Bull had enough in reserve to get home by over a length.
This was only his second run for Denis Hogan. Winner of a nursery over a mile at Doncaster off a mark of 85 when he was with Richard Hannon, the Tagula gelding's shaped encouragingly on his first run for his new trainer in a seven-furlong handicap at Leopardstown, and this was a good step forward from that. The handicapper raised him by 9lb for this to a mark of 96, but he is on a good upward trajectory now. He could improve for this, and he could improve again for a step up to a mile, given his running style here and the fact that he won over that trip as a juvenile.
