Alex D

Alex D put up a really encouraging performance on his racecourse debut in the six-furlong maiden. He came under pressure early, Colin Keane was riding him along at the three-furlong marker, but he responded well. He didn't have a lot of racing room on the run to the two-furlong pole but, moved towards the outside for clear sailing, he stayed on well all the way to the line under just a hands-and-heels ride to take third place, closing to within a length of the winner Lucky Vega.

It was a really nice performance by Ger Lyons' colt, who is bred to get further than this trip. His dam won over a mile and a half, and she is sister to Platitude, who won over a mile and six furlongs, from the family of Oaks winner Reams Of Verse. He will be of interest wherever he goes next, and he will be of particular interest when he steps up in trip.
