Tomorrow's Dream

Tomorrow's Dream didn't have a lot of luck in-running in the one-mile fillies' handicap. A little keen early on, she was dropped in by Hollie Doyle behind Tonyx on the stands side.  The field all congregated on the stands rail, and Hollie Doyle had to move off the rail in order to try to chart a path through.  She ended up having to go four horses wide though, and manoeuvre racing room for herself out in the middle of the track, while Festive Star enjoyed clear sailing close to the stands rail.  Tomorrow's Dream picked up well on the far side, but Festive Star was strong in the finish too, and she just couldn't catch her.

You can't say that Tomorrow's Dream definitely would have won if she had enjoyed a cleaner run through, but she definitely would have finished closer and, beaten just a length, William Haggas' filly might have won.  Winner of a six-furlong novice stakes at Wolverhampton last year, and winner of a seven-furlong handicap at Chepstow on her debut this season off a mark of 73, she was racing off a mark of 81 on Saturday, and she proved that she was capable off this type of mark.  The handicapper raised her by another 3lb for this run, but she should be progressive enough to cope with that okay.  She has raced just five times in her life, so she has lots of potential to continue to progress.  She is from the family of Ribblesdale Stakes winner Irresistible Jewel and Princess Highway, and Irish St Leger and Long Distance Cup winner Royal Diamond, but she is by Oasis Dream and, given that she was a little keen here, and that her run just appeared to flatten out a little close home, it may be that she will be more effective over seven furlongs than a mile, at least for now.
