Bolleville
Bolleville was really impressive in winning the Listed Silver Stakes.
Settled at the rear of the field early on by Shane Crosse, she travelled really well through her race off no more than a moderate pace. Still only third last and four wide around the home turn, she was the only horse still on the bridle when they straightened up. Her rider bided his time, he allowed her make her ground nicely towards the outside and, when he asked her for her effort, she picked up impressively. She hit the front inside the final furlong and she came away nicely to get home by a length from Simsir, who was over two lengths clear of early leader Keats.
This was a fine performance by the Camelot filly on her first run for Joseph O'Brien. They didn't go a breakneck pace, so she did well to come from as far back as she was and to win as cosily as she did. She travelled like the best horse in the race from a fair way out, and she probably won with more in hand than the bare winning margin. She won a listed race in France last year for Pascal Bary over 10 furlongs, and she won over a mile and a half earlier last year, and her dam won over a mile and a half so, by Camelot, she could also improve for stepping back up to that trip. It is interesting that she holds an entry in the Irish St Leger, but she also holds entries in the Ballyroan Stakes and the Give Thanks Stakes next week, both over a mile and a half, which may prove to be her optimum trip. But she is not devoid of pace, she is obviously highly effective over 10 furlongs, and she will be of interest wherever she goes next.
