Sir Busker

Sir Busker ran far better than his finishing position suggests in the Golden Mile.  Dropped in early on by Oisin Murphy from stall seven, he was well back in the field when they levelled up for home.  His rider explored a few possible routes, outside and inside, but the gaps just wouldn't open up.  He made progress on the inside on the run to the furlong marker, but Almufti just moved a little to his right and closed off the last possible chance he had of getting a gap.  Sir Busker just coasted home, apparently full of running.

William Knight's horse was progressive going into the race.  He had won the Silver Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot on his penultimate run before Friday, and he had finished a good second to the talented Motakhayyel in the Bunbury Cup on his latest run.  The handicapper raised him by 5lb for that run to a mark of 107, but he proved here that he is well capable off that mark. He will be even more interesting too on easier ground.
