Escape Route

Escape Route ran a fine race to finish third in the Group 2 July Stakes. Weak in the market beforehand, Richard Fahey's colt travelled really well through his race for Danny Tudhope, just behind the front rank. Apparently travelling best of all as they passed the two-furlong pole, he just got a little out-paced as Yazaman and Qaader quickened in front of him, but he stayed on really nicely when he met the rising ground, just getting up to nab Qaader for third place.

This was a big step up in grade for the Clipper Logistics horse, after his victory in a Class 5 Pontefract maiden on his racecourse debut. He did well to win that day though, coming from the rear over five furlongs, and he stepped forward nicely from that here. He is by Dandy Man, and he is from the family of sprinter Kingsgate Native, but he saw out the six furlongs well here, and he left the impression that he would be better over a stiffer six. This was just his second race, so he could come on again for the experience.
