Rock My Way
Rock My Way put up a good performance to finish second in the near-three-mile handicap chase at Newbury last Saturday. Always travelling well, third of the five runners behind a decent pace that Mister Coffey set, he moved up nicely to take the lead on the run to the second last fence. He travelled best of all at that point and looked by far the most likely winner, trading at 1.37 in-running. In the end, he was just out-gunned by Makin'yourmindup, a proven stayer and a progressive individual himself, with the pair of them coming well clear of their rivals in a race that was run in a solid time.
There should be more to come from Syd Hosie's horse. He shaped on his previous two runs as if he would appreciate a step up from intermediate trips, and he remains unexposed over three miles. A strongly-run contest on soft ground at a stiff track over intermediate trips, or an easy three miles, could suit him best now, and, just a six-year-old, he remains interestingly handicapped on a chase mark of 132, 6lb lower than his peak over hurdles.
