Kitteridge
Kitteridge put up a good performance to finish third in the Pretty Polly Stakes at Newmarket on Sunday. Sharply away and quickly into her racing rhythm, she led on the near side for the first furlong and a half and, even after the ultimate winner Friendly Soul moved into the lead on the far side, she travelled well for Jason Hart through her race. She came under a ride at the three-furlong marker, and she couldn't go with the front two when they pulled clear, but they could both be very good, and she kept on admirably on the near side to finish a clear third, over two lengths clear of the fourth.
This was a nice run by Hugo Palmer's filly on her first run on turf and just the third run of her life. She was stepping up in grade here, and she was weak in the market, allowed go off at 22/1, the outsider of the eight-runner field. She was a good winner over a mile and a quarter at Newcastle on her previous run, and this was a nice step forward from that. She will be of interest wherever she goes next. She is well worth another go at listed race level.
