Serialise
Noted after she finished second in a handicap at The Curragh on Irish Derby weekend, and winner of a good handicap at Cork in the interim, Serialise is worthy of note again after the performance that she put up in finishing third in the new one-mile fillies' handicap at Leopardstown on Saturday. This was a race in which the solid pace held up well and in which the low-drawn horses came to the fore. The winner Vera's Secret made all - and she is worthy of note too, she deserves lots of credit for leading from early and for winning as impressively as she did - while the runner-up Snellen and the fifth filly Elinor Dashwood were prominent from early. Also, the winner was smartly away and got across early to the inside rail from stall 11, and four of the next five home were drawn six or lower. Serialise emerged from stall 19.
Jessica Harrington's filly was wider than ideal from her wide draw and she was a little keen early on. Four wide around the home turn, she came under a ride from Shane Foley two and a half furlongs out. Only eighth or ninth as they raced inside the two-furlong marker, she finished off her race strongly to just get up and snatch third place. It appeared as if she just got out-paced when they quickened around the home turn before staying on well, and she remains unexposed over this one-mile trip. She should be able to do better over this trip if and when she learns to settle a little better.
