Today could be Tidal Fury’s day. I have been waiting for him to go left-handed on heavy ground for a while now, and that’s what he does today. Two things temper enthusiasm – the presence of fellow front-runner Marodima and the fact that the race is at Uttoxeter, where heavy ground can be quite unique given the sand-based structure of the soil. However, Tidal Fury is high class on heavy ground, Ferdy Murphy’s horses are in good form now, and the market suggests that the seven-year-old is well fancied.
