15th-Aug-2015

Adaay has to bounce back from a moderate run in the Commonwealth Cup when we had him on side, but he should appreciate today’s easier conditions.

The step up to seven furlongs is an unknown, all eight of his runs to date have been over six, and he is from a sprinting family, but he races as if he will get further than six, and the chance on the distance is worth taking at the price (11/1).

He is a seriously talented individual who retains lots of scope for progression.  He won a listed race at this track in early May, and he beat Limato on easyish ground at Haydock at the end of the month.  Also, remember that Paul Hanagan chose to ride him in front of Muhaarar in the Commonwealth Cup.  That’s how good he could be.

Here Comes When and Breton Rock are the obvious ones on the ground, but they are both priced up accordingly.  Markaz is a horse I like, but easy ground is an unknown, while Heaven’s Guest would have been of greater interest had the four non-runners stayed in the race.  He is at his best in big-field handicaps, and he may just find one or two too good in this hot Group 2.

ADAAY WON (ADV 11/1, SP 15/2)
