Star Harbour

30th-Jun-2024

I am backing Star Harbour here.  I think that this 12-furlong trip is probably optimal for him.

He didn’t quite get home over a mile and six furlongs last time, he was beaten by almost three lengths by Saturn in the end, but he lost most of that inside the final 150 yards.  He gets to race off the same mark today, he has a 4lb pull with Saturn, and, on softer ground, there is every chance that he can reverse places with the favourite.

We know that Ado McGuinness’ horse goes well with an ease in the ground, he kept on well to win a Racing League race on easy ground at Chepstow last year.

He goes well at The Curragh too.  He ran well on his debut this season in the 10-furlong handicap that Crystal Black won at The Curragh on Irish Guineas weekend.  The winner obviously enhanced that form at Royal Ascot, and Star Harbour shaped as if he would appreciate a step up to a mile and a half.  He is not unexposed, but he is in the form of his life and he has lots in his favour today.

STAR HARBOUR WON (ADV 8/1, SP 9/1)
