Haiti Couleurs

Haiti Couleurs

14th-Dec-2024

Peaky Boy is a big player here, he was good in winning at Cheltenham last month, and he should be even better now, stepped up in trip.

That said, I think that the horses who finished first and second in the novices’ handicap chase at Chepstow’s Persian War Hurdle meeting, Haiti Couleurs and Destroytheevidence, should be closer to him in the betting than they are.

Of the pair, even at respective prices, I just prefer Haiti Couleurs.  Rebecca Curtis’ horse is 1lb worse off with Destroytheevidence for a two-length defeat at Chepstow, but he wasn’t great at either of the last two fences, he may have been idling in front and, but for that mistake at the last, he probably would have won.

As well as that, he went and beat the 132-rated Uncle Bert impressively at Aintree last time, in a race in which only two finished.

He has never run at Cheltenham before, but his record at Chepstow, a left-handed, expansive undulating track like Cheltenham, reads 212, and his jumping was very good at Aintree last time.  He goes well on goodish ground, and he could take another step forward today.

HAITI COULEURS WON (ADV 4/1, SP 4/1)
