Madam Celeste

Madam Celeste

7th-May-2025

I really like Jancis as a filly, she is an old friend from last season, but she has been priced up very conservatively in the Victor McCalmont Stakes this evening, and the value is beyond her in my book.  I am backing Thalara and Madam Celeste.  I think that both fillies are over-priced ...

Madam Celeste is more exposed than Thalara, but she has still raced just seven times, she still has plenty of scope for further progression.  Second in the Listed Diamond Stakes at Dundalk in September, beaten a neck by her stable companion Bellezza, Ger Lyons’ filly ran a big race on her debut this season to finish fourth in the Listed Noblesse Stakes at Cork.

She was well back in the field that day off a sedate pace, as evidenced by the winner’s finishing speed of over 111% of overall speed.  Second last into the home straight, she did well to keep on as well as she did to take fourth place, just three lengths behind the winner Bubble Gum.  She could take a nice step forward today, and, out of a Marygate Stakes winner and a Queen Mary winner, the drop down in trip shouldn't be a negative.

MADAM CELESTE WON (ADV 9/1, SP 8/1)

(THALARA 3RD)
