I think that the London Gold Cup could hold the key to the Golden Gates Handicap, and I am backing the third and fourth from that race, Quai De Bethune and Ernst Blofeld here ...
The form of the London Gold Cup has been working out really well, and Quai De Bethune ran a fine race to finish third in it. Back in the field early on, he stayed on well down the outside to finish just a length and a half behind the winner Saddadd.
Winner of his maiden on all-weather at Kempton in January, he should be better suited by the stiffer test that Ascot presents, and a faster pace would suit him well. And, while his outside draw is not as big a positive over 10 furlongs as it is over 12, it is still a positive.
