Strong Link

You can see why Cameletta Vega is favourite for this.  Quevega’s daughter, she won a bumper at this meeting last year, and she won well at Cork in May, beating Emily Love, who won her next four.  She is a big player, but I thought that Strong Link should have been closer to her in the market than he is.

Ross O’Sullivan’s horse is progressive too, he has won his last two, a bumper at Wexford and his maiden hurdle at Tipperary.  There was a lot to like about the performance that he put up that day.  Back in the field early on, the more the race went on, the better he travelled.  He moved up nicely on the run to the final flight and he came away to win nicely from Coded Welder, who didn’t run badly in the opening race at Galway last evening.

He should progress again for that run, his first over hurdles and just his fifth run under Rules and, out of a sister to Sempo, who won over two miles and six and a half furlongs and who finished fifth in an Irish Grand National, he should appreciate the stiffer test that Galway will present.  Ross O’Sullivan won this race last year with Donnie Devito, and you can be sure that he has had it in mind for Strong Link for a little while.

STRONG LINK WON (ADV 7/2, SP 11/4)
