Charlotte’s Web

Charlotte’s Web

21st-Aug-2025

I am backing Charlotte’s Web in the Galtres Stakes.  I think that she should be much closer to Rainbows Edge in the betting than she is.

She does have three parts of a length to find with The King’s horse on their running in a 10-and-a-half-furlong listed race at York at the end of July, but Rainbow’s Edge got first run on her, and she stayed on well towards the near side.  She left the impression that day that she could improve for the step up to a mile and a half, which she does today, and you can easily argue the case on breeding.  The case for Rainbows Edge at the trip on breeding is not as obvious.

The Crisfords’ filly notched up a sequence of four wins on the trot through last autumn and winter, and she has continued that progression into the turf season.  She remains progressive, she goes well at York and she could progress again for the step up in trip.

Karmology was tempting at the price, she is another filly who goes well at York, her record there reads 1225, but she just doesn't have the same upward trajectory and, on balance, I just prefer Charlotte’s Web.

CHARLOTTE’S WEB WON (ADV 4/1, SP 11/4)
