Kish Bank

29th-Dec-2025

I am backing Kish Bank here.  I thought that he should have been closer to Aurea Fortuna in the market than he is.

Gordon Elliott’s horse was a progressive novice hurdler last season, he won impressively at Wexford in early April and he was sent off as third favourite for the valuable Red Mills Final at the Punchestown Festival.

He ran well for a long way in the three-mile beginners’ chase that subsequent Florida Pearl third Bossofthebrownies won at Fairyhouse, beaten a length for second by Union Station, with whom he is 5lb better today, not including riders’ claims.  Lack of a recent run seemed to tell from the second last fence.

He stepped forward from that last time, dropped in trip to two miles and five furlongs, when he kept on to finish third behind Nowwhatdoyouthink.

A mark of 118 is more than fair for this, his handicap debut.  It is 2lb lower than his hurdles mark and, out of a half-sister to Report To Base, who was a better chaser than hurdler, and out of a mare who won over three miles and from the family of Marcus Du Berlais, who was placed twice in the Irish Grand National, he has the potential to go a fair bit higher over fences.  He should appreciate the step back up in trip today, and he goes well on this yielding ground.  Gordon Elliott is having a fantastic week, and Carl Millar is a good asset in this Adare Manor Opportunity contest.

KISH BANK WON (ADV 4/1, SP 9/2)
