Dance And Glance
Dance And Glance is not a massive price for this, but I thought that he should have been shorter than the 4/1 at which we could back him.
He has done well this season, and he continues to progress. Fourth behind Alexei in a handicap hurdle at Ascot in November, before that horse went on to win the Greatwood Hurdle and morph into a Champion Hurdle contender, he battled on well to get the better of All In You in another handicap hurdle back at Ascot in December.
He gave best to that rival at Sandown next time, but it was still a fine performance, racing off a mark that was 4lb higher than the mark off which he had won at Ascot, when he had Martin Pipe Hurdle runner-up Hot Fuss behind him in fourth.
He was a well-beaten fifth in the William Hill Hurdle at Newbury last time, but you can easily allow him that, in a race that was run in attritional conditions and in which seven of the 15 runners didn’t finish.
He should be happier today back on much better ground, and down 1lb in the handicap, which is a bonus. A six-year-old who has progressed since the start of the season, he retains the potential to go beyond the handicap rating of 120 off which he races today. He ran well on his only run to date at Haydock, when he finished fifth in the Swinton Hurdle last May.
We’re Red And Blue and Williethebuilder are the two main dangers in my book, and it wouldn't be surprising to see old friend Marche D’Aligre out-run big odds, but Dance And Glance is the bet. Anthony Honeyball has had a great season, and Sam Twiston-Davies is always an asset.
