Green Carrera

I am backing Green Carrera here. I thought she should have been favourite in front of Prevalence.

There shouldn't be much between these two, based on their running over today's course and distance earlier this month. There was just a short head between them then, and they meet on identical terms today, both up 1lb from last time. And Prevalence is a big danger today.

But Green Carrera was well back in the field early on that day, coming off a sedate pace. Prevalence didn’t have an uninterrupted passage through, and she is progressive too, it was her first run of the season so she should come forward for it. But Green Carrera had to do a lot of running to join the front rank. She can be marked up on the bare form of the run. It was her seasonal return too, and just the fourth run of her life. There could be a fair bit more to come from her.

That was a strong-looking race, and the fourth horse, Sanctijude, has since come out and won a good maiden at Gowran Park on Wednesday. Anushka finished fifth in the race, less than a length behind Green Carrera and Prevalence, and she comes into it too, she is 2lb better off. But she raced in a prominent position, she was better positioned when they quickened off that sedate pace. Also, she is more experienced, and she had had a run already this season and, even at a shorter price, I just prefer Green Carrera.
