Folk Pageant
Folk Pageant
6th-Jun-2026
My shortlist for this, at the prices, was comprised of Folk Pageant, Pandella and Silver State and, of the three, I just like Folk Pageant best.
Charlie Johnston’s filly showed a really good attitude to get back up and win a 10-furlong handicap at Newmarket last month, just getting home by a short head from Sharp Romance, who came out and won next time off a 2lb higher mark.
Folk Pageant made light of a 3lb hike last Saturday at Chester, when she stayed on well to get the better of a progressive Andrew Balding colt. She had to go wider than ideal around the home turn, but, again, she showed a really good attitude to get up close home, and the first two had a nice break on their rivals.
She is 6lb higher now, and this is obviously a step up in grade, but she goes into the race on a nice upward trajectory, and the fact that she is one for one at Chester augurs well for Epsom. She ran well on her racecourse debut too on good to soft ground, her only run on ground softer than good, so hopefully she will be okay on the ground.
She goes forward in her races, but she doesn't have to lead, which looks ideal for this race, with a lot of pace on. Hopefully she will be able to slot in just behind the pace early on.
FOLK PAGEANT WON (ADV 13/2, SP 5/1)
