Thesecretadversary

The Jersey Stakes is a good race for Thesecretadversary. It is a race in which horses who have run in the Guineas do well, dropping down in trip and dropping down in grade, and Fozzy Stack's horse shaped at Newmarket and at The Curragh as if he would appreciate a drop back down in distance.

He was just too keen in the Guineas at Newmarket. He did well to finish fifth. He only has a head to find with Into The Sky on that run, and he is a much bigger price.

He settled better at The Curragh, but he had no racing room on the far rail deep inside the final furlong. He didn’t get out until it was too late, but he kept on well once into the clear. He was beaten just two lengths for second place and just a length for third.

He does have to carry a penalty today, but he is classy and he could be up to the task. This seven-furlong trip is probably optimal for him, he won the Guineas Trial at Leopardstown this season over that trip, and he is proven at Ascot. He finished second in the Chesham Stakes last year. And Fozzy Stack and Seamie Heffernan teamed up to win the Chesham on Thursday with Nola Soul.

THESECRETADVERSARY WON (ADV 11/1, SP 20/1)
