White Moonstone

White Moonstone produced an impressive performance to land the seven-furlong Group 3 Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday. She travelled out the back in a race that wasn’t run at a fast pace, and she raced towards the near side, which probably wasn’t an advantage. She moved towards her left when she came under pressure as she produced her challenge, all the way over to the far rail, but she kept going forward for Frankie Dettori and she was by far the best filly in the race.

There was a chance that White Moonstone was slightly flattered in winning on her previous start at Ascot because she raced on the best of the ground, but she proved here that that wasn’t the case. It took her a little while to pick up here, which was probably down to greenness more than anything else, but she picked up impressively eventually when Frankie went for her. There was a lot to like about the way she won in the end, she quickened really well off a slow early pace and won well despite drifting all the way over to the far side, which gives the impression that there could be a lot more to come from her. She is bred to be better when she goes further, and she is a really exciting prospect.
