Always Right
Always Right put up a nice performance to win the Grimthorpe Chase at Doncaster on Saturday, and he is on a signifcant upward curve now. Rider James Reveley was probably forced to go on earlier than he wanted to after Presenting Forever fell at the fifth last and hampered a couple of his rivals, leaving him with a clear passage up the inside. He took it up at the third last and, although he idled quite badly on the run-in, it never really looked like veteran Lothian Falcon was going to get to him, and he probably won with plenty in hand in a really good time. He took a little while to warm to his fences here, but they went very fast on the good ground, and he was good over his fences in the latter stages of the race. He is nine years old, but he has raced just seven times over fences, just three times out of hunter chase class, and there could be significant improvement to come as he gains in experience of jumping at pace. He has won twice on soft ground, but he handled this good ground well and he won a hunter chase at Perth on good to firm ground, and a 9lb hike should not be sufficient to stop him progressing further. He could be a Scottish National horse now. He was travelling well in front when he fell at the fourth last on his only previous visit to Ayr.
