Kynren

Kynren ran another good race to finish second to Poet’s Society in the 1m handicap. David Barron’s horse got a nice run around into the home straight, he picked up well for Fran Berry from the 2f marker and, although he just couldn’t get past the winner, he ran on well on the far side to get to within a neck of him and to beat Firmament and Sharja Bridge and Original Choice for the runner-up spot, in a race that was run in a good time.

The handicapper raised him by 3lb to a mark of 100, but this was just his ninth run, he continues to progress, and there is surely a big handicap in him off this type of mark. A stiff mile is probably ideal for him. He didn’t get 10 and a half furlongs in the John Smith’s Cup at York on his previous run, but he could be a horse for the Cambridgeshire over 9f. He handles easy ground well – his record on soft ground reads 131 – and he did win a 7f handicap on Newmarket’s July Course last year on his only run at either of the Newmarket tracks.
