Dubai Horizon

Dubai Horizon was a good winner of the competitive 10f handicap.  Settled just behind the leaders through the early stages of the race by Jason Watson, he was squeezed out of it a little on the run around the home turn, and he had to check a little as Almoreb moved across him at the 2f marker.  He was in danger of being crowded out of it after that, but he did well to pick up as well as he did. He got out after Almoreb, joined him at the 1f marker, and stayed on strongly enough from there to withstand the late challenge of Mountain Angel.

A promising sort as a juvenile two years ago, he raced just twice last year as a three-year-old, winning his maiden by 3l and then running his stable companion Leshlaa to a neck in a handicap at Newmarket off a mark of 85.  It took him a while to find his range this season, but he was an impressive winner at Ayr on his last run before Saturday off a mark of 91, and he made light of a 9lb hike on Saturday.  The handicapper has raised him by another 7lb for Saturday’s win, but he could be progressive enough to take that type of hike in his stride.
