Silver Streak

Silver Streak ran a cracker to finish second in the Greatwood Hurdle. Evan Williams’ horse made a mistake at the first flight, the first in the back straight, and he was always in rear and towards the inside, which was probably not the optimum position in the race as it panned out. Even so, he moved up nicely on the run down the hill, and he just failed to catch Nietzsche, who was ridden more forward.

Silver Streak’s best runs before this had been on flat tracks, Ffos Las and Haydock, but he did win at Chepstow early last season, and he proved here that he could go well at Cheltenham. He will be of automatic interest in all these big two-mile handicap hurdles, the Ladbroke and the Betfair Hurdle and the Coral Hurdle and the County Hurdle, whichever of those he contests. The handicapper raised him by 5lb to a mark of 150, but he is only five and he still has the potential to continue to progress. He should do better too off a faster pace than the one that he got here.
