Its All Guesswork

Its All Guesswork ran a nice race to finish third in the Pertemps Qualifier. Held up out the back early on by Mark Enright, the Gordon Elliott-trained gelding made nice progress down the back straight, and he stayed on well from the home turn, over the final flight and up the run-in to take third place behind Cap York, although he would have finished only fourth had Choungaya not fallen at the final flight.

This was Philip Reynolds’ horse’s first run since he fell at the final fence in the Munster National back in October, and it opens options for him back over hurdles. He raced off a mark of 124 here and he will be of interest wherever he goes next. He is only seven and this was just his sixth run over hurdles, so he has scope to progress as a staying hurdler. He would also be of interest if he went back over fences now. He is lightly raced over fences too, and has the potential to progress under both codes.
