Maqsad

Maqsad put up a good performance to win the 1m maiden. Always travelling well for Jim Crowley and in the front rank, she picked up well when Twist ‘N’ Shake challenged her on the near side. Her challenger had the advantage of the stands rail, but Maqsad battled on well out in the centre to get home by a head, and the manner in which the front two pulled clear of their rivals was impressive.

This can be a good maiden, Sea Of Class finished second in it last year, and Sea Of Class is trained, like Maqsad, by William Haggas. There is every reason to expect that Maqsad will progress from this. She shaped well on her racecourse debut at Newmarket last September too, and she is bred to go further than this 1m. It is not beyond reason to think of her as a potential Oaks filly, although her trainer did say that the French Guineas and the French Oaks are both options.
