American Lady

American Lady did well to keep on as well as she did to take fourth place behind Ickworth in the listed 5f juveniles’ race. Last early on, it looked like she got a little out-paced when they picked up at the 2f marker. She was still last when they passed the 1f pole but, moved towards the far side by Chris Hayes, she picked up well and finished off her race strongly to take fourth. She was well beaten by Ickworth, but she probably would have been second in another five strides, and she was actually in front at the pull-up.

Fozzy Stack’s filly has had plenty of experience already for a juvenile, this was her third run, all over 5f, but she has improved with each run, and she shaped here as if she would appreciate a step up to 6f. Her dam is a half-sister to Lovelace, who won a Group 2 race in Germany over 1m and whose best form was over 7f and 1m. She is progressive, and she will be of interest now wherever she goes next, especially if she steps up a little in trip.
