Koybig

Koybig did well to finish third in the six-furlong rated race. Quickly away on the inside, he was just settled back into mid-division early on by Donagh O’Connor. He travelled well into the home straight in behind horses along the inside, but he didn’t have a lot of room on the inside the final 2f. He eventually got a gap along the rail, and he finished off his race well against the rail to get up on the inside of Lincoln and take third place behind Hit The Silk and Improving, in a race that was run in a decent time.

It was a good run back by David Marnane’s horse, returning after a break of 92 days, and racing over a trip that is probably short of his best. He has had plenty of racing, and he hasn’t won yet in seven runs now for his current trainer, but he has dropped to a mark of 71, which is 12lb lower than the mark off which he raced last summer, and this run suggests that there could be a race in him now off this type of mark. His best runs have been on good or fast ground over a mile, and he seems to go particularly well at Killarney.
