Stylehunter

Stylehunter didn’t have a lot of luck in-running in the Royal Hunt Cup. Slowly away, he travelled well for Rab Havlin to the two-furlong marker but, when his rider wanted to go forward from that point, he didn’t have a lot of racing room. He ended up forced out towards the centre of the track. Around four lengths behind the winner Afaak passing the furlong marker, he finished off his race really strongly to take fourth place, beaten a total of just over two lengths.

John Gosden’s horse was a progressive horse last season as a three-year-old. Two wins flanked a really good run to finish sixth in the Britannia Handicap at Royal Ascot last season. Gelded during the winter, he was keener than ideal on his debut this season in a 10-furlong handicap at Newmarket. This was much more like it, and he can be marked up a fair bit on the bare form of the run. He could do even better now back on better ground and, while he has won over nine and 10 furlongs, there could be one of these big one-mile Ascot handicaps in him now off this type of mark of 99.
