Encapsulation

Encapsulation ran a nice race to finish second in the Coral Distaff, the listed one-mile race for three-year-old fillies.   Fast away and settled nicely behind the early leader Muchly as they wheeled around out of the back straight, the Andrew Balding-trained filly came under pressure early in the home straight, but she found plenty for pressure. Ridden along before they reached the two-furlong marker, she stayed on well on the far side and, switched out wide by Jim Crowley, she stayed on strongly all the way to the line to take second place behind Hidden Message and in front of Muchly.

Winner of her maiden at Clonmel over nearly 10 furlongs when she was with Noel Meade, and second to Pink Dogwood in the Listed Salsabil Stakes at Navan, when she had subsequent Blue Wind Stakes winner Tarnawa behind her in third, this was another good run from the Zoffany filly. She split two talented and progressive fillies here, the first three were clear of Beyond Reason, and the winning time was good. By Zoffany out of an Iffraaj mare who won over five furlongs, she raced here as if a mile was an insufficient test for her. She should do better stepped back up to 10 furlongs now, the distance over which she raced on all three of her runs for Noel Meade. Unraced as a juvenile, she has raced just four times in her life, and she has plenty of potential for further progression. She might appreciate a return to slightly easier ground too.
